I haven’t read this author before and there’s something about the writing style that was just beautiful. In this excerpt, a young scion draws visions of an eyeless girl. His family forbids him from doing this because they believe it will make them all look bad. The scion behaves for two years and draws no visions. Then his mother is murdered. He actually had a vision of it happening and did nothing to stop it. Now he feels that he needs to acknowledge his visions. He starts drawing the eyeless girl again. But his father starts making accusations about the murder and goes on to kill many himself. The scion thinks his visions of the eyeless girl are connected to his father’s tirade.
