What an amazing book!! This was a great start to what I'm sure will be a fantastic new trilogy from Cassandra Clare. I've been hyping it up in my head since I first found out about its existence and thankfully, it completely exceeded my expectations. The characters from The Infernal Devices trilogy are my favorite in the Shadowhunter world so to follow their immediate descendants and get cameos from my golden trio was delightful beyond measure. You really get a feel for how much they care for one another despite some of their flaws. And speaking of friendship, Lucie Herondale, Cordelia Carstairs and Anna Lightwood forever. In addition to the unparalleled bromance, Lucie, Cordelia and Anna are some of the best female characters ever to grace the pages of a novel. They're all amazingly strong, independent and breaking boundaries in their own unique ways. I have to do some serious reflecting before I can claim that I have a new favorite Shadowhunter character, but I would do anything for this bunch and we're only one book in.
