The book takes place in 1900's. The story revisits 3 of my favorite characters (Jem, Will and Tessa) and their children. They are not the main characters but they make appearances through out the books. The story is told from multiple view points. James is on a quest to find out who is Grandfather is. He is parabati with Matthew. Other characters of interest are Cordelia and she is trying to avenge her father. Lucie who is the sister of James and wants to be parabati with Cordelia. Then there is James best friends Thomas, and Christopher. All of them fight the demons together and there is great character development. My only gripe is the author explains what parabati is about 100 times. I dont think its necessary.
