Overall, I liked the book. The story was engaging and kept my interest. It was difficult to place where this happened in the timeline at first. I just recently read the Bane Chronicles before reading this book and there is a huge difference from how she used to write compared to now. The change in her writing style is wonderful. I like seeing the progression in an author's writing especially if it is getting better. Finding out through the tie into some of the short stories is crazy and other references as well. I am trying to read all of the Cassandra Clare books that are within this world and I only started months ago. The characters for me were a little bland when it came to character interactions. Sometimes it feels like it is just I was just reading the Mortal Instruments gang just with different names. It was not all the time but it did happen enough to notice. Excited to read the next one.
