I was sucked in to the story from the start! This book seems to have a good mix of everything: fantasy, action, romance. I really liked how the story was moving forward, but with all the background information slowly added as characters thought back. It allows for everything about this world to be explained, but in pieces along the way so it’s not too much at once or boring. There already seem to be several mysteries that I’m intrigued to find out more about, from James going into Hell and turning into shadow, to the seeming conspiracy that’s putting Cordelia’s father on trail. I’m also intrigued to find out more of how this world works, with runes that keep “mundanes” from seeing the Shadowhunters, and hunters getting paired together as “parabatai”.
