A reader will instantly relate to ten-year-old Lucie and her lively imagination which draws her out into the forest at night. When she fell into the pit, the terror is palpable as she discovers that she is too short to reach the ledge and escape. I felt a slight disconnection when the next scene was in London with evil demons coming for the male protagonists. However, the mystical world seems detailed and well planned, so I am sure that dystopian fantasy fans will enjoy this book. I am not sure that it is for me.
