Nice Setting, but Not My Thing

While I think that, as a fantasy reader who tends to not love contemporary romance, this book is probably not my thing personally, it's certainly well-written, and the rich, beautiful setting could probably really draw another reader in. The pacing of this first look also flows really nicely by moving quickly and getting me to keep on reading.

Still, the blurb presents the main conflict of this story as Erika's decision about staying in New York rather than keeping the estate in Tuscany, and also her decision between her fiance and Paolo, the estate manager, and I'm not sure this is a strong enough conflict to build the entire narrative off of. While obviously I can't say for sure, this first look makes it seem like there's really no choice at all, with Erika's business life seeming shallow and based off of appearances, with the same going for her relationship with her Fiancee, and it just seems very obvious who she's going to choose. Maybe the focus of the book is moreso just on her romance with Paolo rather than this conflict and it'll stand on that instead, but based on the blurb alone I felt like there wasn't quite enough difficulty to this choice. But again, this book just isn't my usual thing, so I might just be being nitpicky!
