My father had dementia too. So the story intrigued me. Author, Matt Goldman, real portrayal of living with a love one with dementia is spot on. Where old memories come floating up into the present.

The story takes the reader on a nice ride, mixing past stories to solve a mystery or two. Good character development, with surprises along the way. Bubba, the fishing guide, is a very pivotal character to move the story along, he too holds some secrets. Leela was my favorite character, I loved listening to her dialog. She cracked me up.

Parts of the story made me giggle and that is always a good sign.
The story comes around to the picture on the cover and explains it, awesome.

My favorite line was: "Dying is a magnificent gesture by the body to let the soul go." In the story as in real life, Joey's father and my father, knew that their memories were all they had. My father would ask me, "Why am I still here?" And I would answer, "To teach me compassion." He'd smile and nod.
