The cover: I do like the cover, the house in the back and the overall scene that is painted here gives me eerie, haunted lakehouse on the bayou vibes. Considering the setting is Beaufort, NC, I think the cover adds a lot to the book's overall vibe right off the bat.
The first look: The backstory of what's happening here with Joey Green's ill father is very dark and sad. He's succumbing to his dementia, and while he may be speaking nonsense, some of what he's saying could be much deeper and relevant than what one what assume. Mysterious indeed.
