The story of Cape May is an interesting one about a honeymooning couple playing at being adults and being married who fall in with a group of rather debauched sophisticates from New York City while staying in a relatives borrowed cottage on the Jersey Shore. Excess drinking and fun and games commence leading the small town, newly married innocents on an exciting whirl that will not end pleasantly. The T.M.I. title that I have given my comments is because, at times during the reading, I felt that the narrative was coming from an adolescent boy’s erotic dream replete with too much detail.

All in all the novel has a lot going for it and the author has a talent for description. Also, because the time period of the book (1957) is obviously well before the writer’s birth, I allow him a pass for getting some details and turns of phrase not quite right for that time period.
