Wow! What a book. This was sexy, scandalous, and a fun look into a man's world through his own eyes. I found this look into a man's sexual exploration interesting, weirdly funny, sexy, and also so so intriguing.
This book definitely provided a lot of booze, sex, and scandalous (can you tell I'm really liking this word?) drama. I might have found the main character annoying and selfish at times, but also so naive and childish. Obviously he is a young man, who is trying to understand things he hasn't had a chance to experience yet. While also being a responsible adult, a provider, a lover, a husband. He has to grow up in the end, but his struggle to get there, internal fights with himself over his wants and needs "as a man" and what he should do in the end was what kept me reading. I couldn't tell where his story and choices will take him. It went from innocent sexual exploration to something more adulterous.
The only negative thing I can say, the end lacked for me. Where the drama ended, and the last chapters provided a look into the future, years after those weeks on the shore, it lacked closure for me. It felt rushed, and unfinished, and somehow it changed the characters and who they were in the beginning.
This was definitely a smoldering hot read, and I'm glad this was my first summer book. Not a regular romance with electricity and hot looks across the room but more carnal. It was simpler and sexier at the same time.
