Could be subtitled How three weeks in New Jersey can mess up the rest of your life !! A young, innocent, newly married Georgia couple boards a train for Cape May,NJ, in September, the off season and finds it quiet & empty except for three rich, amoral lingeronners and are drawn in to their lifestyle-booze and sex. Most of the time, they are all drunk or clearly, on their way. Everyone eventually has sex with everyone, and, believe me, it is explicitly written by the author. Whew! It's the kind of writing that, if you are a kid and your parents are out, you show your friends all the "dirty" parts. Although they stay married, they are changed people, and not for the better. I did not like any of the characters, and although I must say Mr. Cheek's writing style has the extraordinary ability to pull you in and make you feel you are participating, the book is just not my cup of tea. It's one to remember, though.
