I give this book 2.5 stars but rounded up to 3 stars. For less than 300 pages it was a very slow book. I didn't care for any of the characters, they were all unlikable. Henry and Effie are newlyweds who, for growing together, barely know each other. They honeymoon in Cape May, New Jersey, where Effie spent a lot of childhood summers. Unfortunately, they are there in September and the town is a ghost town. Until they see a light in another house. They decide to introduce themselves and are swept up in a whirlwind of sex and desire. It got very sexual and I was very surprised by it because the book was so boring at times.

I didn't like the rushed ending. The book spans just a few weeks and then the final chapter spans 50 years. And it's just a boring next 50 years. What even was the point?
