The thing that I liked straightaway was the writing. It was so descriptive, but I didn't really care for our main characters. Henry seemed so unsure of the choice he'd made marrying Effie, and Effie's emotions were so out of whack. I would be willing to pick up the rest of the book to see if the characters become more fleshed out.
