Exciting book
Thank you so much to BookishFirst for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a prequel book to Smith's Ballantyne series. The book is about Mungo St. John, son of a Virginian plantation owner. He lives in Cambridge. His old love writes him a letter which brings him back to his family's plantation. Mungo St. John is forced with many decisions and complications throughout the entire book. This book contains very heavy subject matter and the brutality of slavery in the United States.
This book no doubt lays the foundation for the series to come. I'm interested to read the books in the series. I want to see what happens with the characters in the series.
