I would like to begin by thanking #BookishFirst and #BonnierZaffrePublisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Call of the Raven for an honest review.

This book was full of action from the beginning as we got to know Mungo St. John. He is a character that has just as many bad points as good ones, but it makes him endearing. He is in school in England where we are shown his excellent debate skills. When he receives word that his father has died, he sets sail on a cross Atlantic ship to return and take charge of his fathers tobacco plantation. Things at home are not at all how he expects though, sending him into adventures galore and taking the reader from Virginia to New Orleans via England, Africa and Cuba with action in every port. Mungo makes some friends and many enemies along the way.
I enjoyed most of this book very much and was kept highly interested throughout it. There were some sections describing activities that he got involved in that are not for the faint of heart, but other than those, spanning only a handful of chapters, it was a very good read.
