This sounds like a great American adventure novel set in the South when slavery was prevalent. While the plot intrigues me, I'm less interested in the setting. I'm almost wondering if the setting would take away from the plot for me. I enjoy reading historical fiction and non-fiction about slaves, but add in all the drama and action and it may detract.
