This book was enjoyable but not a standout piece of literature. It’s a modern rendition of a classic and kept my attention but didn’t really stand out to me. The main character Anne is endearing and relatable and very human in her emotions and struggles. The romantic story feels very recognizable since it’s based off of Persuasion by Jane Austen. While I anticipated the ending since I’m familiar with the classic novel the modern storytelling was engaging and digestible. It was hard not to also root for Anne even knowing how the story would evolve. Overall I am glad I finished it but I might not necessarily recommend it unless the person likes romance novels and classic literature. Otherwise there are other good options to read instead.
