Anything that mimics Jane Austen promises to be good and I’m sure that this will be no exception. The cover is beautiful and the pages feel sort of like newspaper in a really good way. A+ on looks! Maybe it’s all the action packed stuff I’ve been reading lately, but this seems to be going a tad slow. I’m ready for things to pick up. I like how the ends of some chapters are Anne’s emails, it feels like you’re getting a bit more personal look into her life and feelings. That being said, is it too early to admit that I don’t find Anne’s life and story all that interesting? 100 pages in and nothings really happening except her griping about her circumstances. I’m bored and the other books of TBR list are calling my name. And then, the final straw. A gay affair. I’m done and close to calling this one trash, something I don’t do lightly. Thanks to BookishFirst and the publisher, but no thanks. DNF.
