DC Jack Warr is adrift in life. He’s a police officer but having a hard time feeling ambitious about the work. Then, he and his girlfriend move to London for her job and he has an opportunity to be promoted to sergeant.
At the same time, his unit is called in for a weird case—a burned out cottage with a dead body inside. Then, his parents give him information about his adoption and the mystery of where his biological father is seems to tie in to the case of the burned cottage.
There are so many twists and turns in the book and a final twist in the last pages of the book. It’s a complicated story, but not hard to follow, even with a lot of but characters.
The quality of writing was excellent—not a surprise given the author.
