While I was initially intrigued by the mayor's dilemma, I was bored by the time I got back to her chapter to learn what happened. There was a lot of backstory in the first couple of chapters and I just wasn't attached to them to care. Piper seems like a strong female character and the premise itself is interesting. Hopefully the rest of the book is stronger.
