This was my first Jodi Thomas novel and I have to say it was a pleasant surprise. While there are definitely bits of romance styling in these first few chapters, there is also an intriguing small-town mystery. Mayor Piper Jane Mackenzie sounds like an intriguing character, a strong woman wrapped up in a little bit of a scandal. I'm not entirely sure how preacher Sam is going to fit into all of this, but who doesn't love a good story about a man starting over by getting back to his roots. Add wanna-be Texas Ranger Colby to this mix, and I think the reader is in for a satisfying story. Honey Creek sounds like a charming town and I look forward to reading more about it.
