I had no expectations when I started reading Body Language by Marylee MacDonald. I had never read anything by her before or even heard of her. I was interested to see what she would do with her short story topic of choice: Body language. The goal: to show people at their basest, following their instincts, their hearts, instead of their minds. Was the goal achieved? I don't feel like it. None of the stories quite resonated with me I guess I just didn't understand the concept, some of the stories I didn't even understand why they were in the collection. I guess I thought it would be more obvious? I really enjoyed one story in particular; Tito's Descent. Not because of the narrator's brief connection to another character, but because of the story itself. I wanted more of that story, more spelunking, more cave exploring, etc. I can hardly remember any of the other stories. This just wasn't a collection for me.
