I generally do not like short stories for the exact reason I experienced while reading this First Impression. I don't understand the point. Why go through all the trouble of painting such vivid characters only to have the story end right there? I think there's supposed to be some kind of message throughout that I'm missing.

This book adds another level of frustration because I don't understand the point of these stories together. I did not particularly like any of the characters or understand what they were doing or why. None of the stories seemed to have anything in common. It really seemed a stretch to claim that this is a book about anything.

All that being said, the writing was good, and I had strong impressions of each character and the settings in which they interacted with each other.
