What do you get when you combine murder, money, bigamy, debutantes, drug addicts, old ladies, strippers, and poker? ⁣

Meet Maud, an older lady, ex high society debutante, who happens to be an avid and good poker player. She walks into The Four Seasons restaurant and shoots Sun Sunderland in the middle of his lunch meeting with Burt Sklar, the man she believes is responsible for robbing and killing her mother of her fortune. ⁣

This was a wild little story. Defiant a quick read and I even found myself laughing at times. The story also gets heavy at parts with triggers of domestic violence, murder, sexual assault. All you see is Maud and she kills Sun. Was she aiming for Burt and missed? Maud never misses. As you read more and more secrets are unveiled from all of the main characters in the story. I really liked how it kept me on my toes. I never knew what to expect. The ending fit very well with the title and the core of Maud. You will enjoy this tale of revenge and figuring out all of the pieces that got this old lady to her breaking point. ⁣

You will probably despise Burt as much as I did. His constant starting of sentences with candidly, honestly or truthfully was just annoying but made you hate him so much more. ⁣

I recommend this quick read if you want something different and more on the style of Clue or an Agatha Christie style read.
