Bluff was an unexpected treat. It's a shorter story, just a bit over 200 pages, with a lot of dialogue and action, and reads quickly. The main character's family was taken advantage of financially by Burt Sklar. Maud's parents were very wealthy and Burt managed to swindle them out of all the money. Unfortunately, Maud was unable to prove what happened and ended up being nicknamed 'Mad Maud' by the high society. The story starts with Maud walking into the Four Seasons, interrupting Burt's weekly lunch with his best friend, Sun Sunderland, and shooting Sun She then left the restaurant and got on a train, making an escape. Was Maud a bad shot? Was she really aiming at Burt? That's what the majority of people think. You'll have to read the story to find out.

The author uses poker terminology, strategy and analogies throughout the story. This is a fun read that kept me both smiling and guessing. I could easily picture this as a black and white film. I see Katherine Hepburn playing Maud, with a wry sense of humor and passion as she bluffs her way through the events in the story.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review.
