Finally a mystery where the main character is a mature woman instead of a young girl in peril. I enjoyed the way that Hickock prepares “Mad” Maud in her glamorous, but second-hand, clothes and gives her history as she travels to the Four Seasons. Her writing is crisp and clever and the cover of the book drew me in with the central letter in blood red and the hat that tilts to conceal.
