The start of the book captured my attention and the first chapter was even better.
You could tell immediately that you were in a high fantasy setting, where murders were occurring, and the protagonist would be tasked with solving it.
The description of the blood in the rain drew me in and I felt like I was the one staring at it. I immediately wanted to know the main character's relationship with magic, as it's pretty clear that another magic user hurt him and then he references his own magic abilities.
Then you get to chapter two and here's another interesting character! I wasn't prepared for multiple POVs, but I was super interested in learning how these two characters connect.
I liked the author's tone and writing flow. It's descriptive without being overwhelming and I was able to ease right into the story.
