Great for younger readers
The reason for my 3-star review is that the language is too simple for me. Otherwise, this is a great book for readers in their pre- and younger teens. Its got everything a fantasy-adventure novel would ever need. An awesome plot, romance, a headstrong character, another shy-but-super-smart character, a guy with a sob story, and the whole world against them.

Aeduan is a bloodwitch, who is feared for his control over blood, whether it's his own or others'. Therefore, he is never well received and even shunned for most of his life. This time, the monastery-the only place he had happy memories-is being attacked, and he is willing to do anything to protect it.
