I was gifted an advanced readers copy of this book from Bookish First and Tor Teen in exchange for an honest review.

Being a huge fan of the prior two novels, I couldn’t wait to jump back into Susan Dennard’s Witchland’s series. This third book, Bloodwitch, is supposedly meant to follow around Aeduan, the bloodwitched monk. Unfortunately, this didn’t feel like his story to me. With the exceptions of the flashbacks from Aeduan’s childhood, it felt just as much every other characters story as it did his. I am not complaining about getting to revisit all my other favorite characters and see what they’re up to except that it seems to jump back and forth to their perspectives far too often. Most chapters jumped between 2 and 3 different character perspectives which left me feeling dizzy and confused. Every time I felt sucked into the action that Susan Dennard is so good at writing, I felt pulled right out of the middle of it and placed into another person’s story.

Overall, Susan Dennard has created amazing characters who on their own are flawed and just okay, but together make a dynamic team. Too bad we’ve now spent 2 books on a constant journey to reunite them. *cries*
