After forcing myself to suffer through Sightwitch last night, this was everything I needed. Aeduan has been my favorite character since he was mentioned, so a book about him was literally everything I wanted. Although I feel like dying because the next book won’t be released until 2021, I loved this.

If you look back at any of my past reviews, you’ll see me raving about Aeduan and Iseult. I love every character, but those two are the reason I’ve read three books in less than 24 hours. I’m dying for more of them together, and even though this book helped, it’s not enough! Considering where it ended though, I’m getting the feeling that they’ll be together a lot more in the next one :)

“From the day she had stabbed Aeduan in the heart, that heart had been hers—and she would not let this be his end”

Since the day Iseult stabbed Aeduan, and broke his spine, I’ve been shipping them harder than any other fantasy characters. I don’t even know why, but I live for their relationship. Slow burn, enemies to lovers. It’s everything I wanted. How am I supposed to return to regular fantasies after having read this??

Also, Dennard is the only author I’ve ever encountered that can write several love triangles that are actually enjoyable. They don’t feel set in stone, I have no idea which character is going to end up with which. They don’t feel like a way to extend the page count, they feel natural. At this point, I don’t even know who I’m shipping anymore!

The ending of this was insane. I have no idea what happened, because so much was happening at once. It just all combined into the perfect combination and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. But, if it’s not full of Aeduan and Iseult scenes, I’m going to riot.
