I'm not generally one to read fantasy. I love character-driven stories and often it feels as though characters are secondary to worldbuilding in this genre.

Bloodwitch grabbed me from its first words, and I soon found myself racing through the offered preview. The present-tense opener sets a specific mood and introduces a character that chapter one returns to years after the initial event that set him on his course to begin with. The prose isn't overly concerned with the fantasy world, so new terms are introduced organically. The writing style itself is something to be admired. Word choice is a big thing for me to describe imagery and this hits the mark in every way. I'm excited to read more.
