I love a story that creates a completely new concept, and Blood and Moonlight supplies that. Catrin is a woman with a unique ability to spot flaws in architecture before it causes people danger, and her job is to report such to her boss. But for someone whose job has been primarily to protect people, what does she do when she sees someone die and a murderer manages to get away?
I particularly enjoyed how the killer's identity wasn't easily given away. Due to this (and of course, other parts of the story, such as the intense dive into mental health and relationships, or the unique world building of a new but familiar society), I found myself on the edge of my seat, eager to consume more.
As true to most YA labeled books, there was a bit of romance between Simon and Catrin. I felt neutral about this... It was ok, and not overdone. It didn't detract from the story or the goals of the characters. It also didn't feel entirely necessary to the story's success. It was just kind of there.
Overall, this is a read!
