I was so pleasantly surprised by this unexpected book. In general, I am a huge fan of mysteries and thrillers, but I don't typically read a lot of fantasy, so I was curious to see whether or not I would enjoy a mixture of these two genre. I must say I ended up liking it a lot, and the fantasy part particularly was a fun addition to my usual genre!
Catrin was a very interesting character! I thought the mystery surrounding her was enticing, and I liked how her character developed throughout the novel. Additionally, the little bit of romance in the novel was perfect. It didn't go overboard, but was just enough to add a cute element to the book.
While I was able to guess who the murderer was, I thought the mystery was well-written, and it made me keep second-guessing who the real culprit was.
Overall, I would certainly recommend this book, especially to people who enjoy mysteries.
