A cool mystery
I don’t usually read mysteries but I really enjoyed this one! Overall, I thought this world-building was pretty original and interesting. It’s only a slightly magical world and I liked that it wasn’t overly complex or complicated.
The book deals with mental illness a lot and the effects it has on people: both people who have the illness and those around the person. I thought that was all very well done too.
The mystery I liked because it was never obvious who the villain was. There were twists and turns before a final reveal and it was riveting to read.
I think the romance was fine but it was a case of “everyone loves the FMC” trope so I wasn’t thrilled with that.
I think it’s not a five-star read simply because it wasn’t something I think I’d read again and I probably wouldn’t be giving this one out to others as a recommendation either. I liked it but I’m sure there are better mysteries out there too.
