Blade of Secrets is a fantasy about a socially anxious teenage Blacksmith named Ziva, and I absolutely adored it!
The work-building, the characters(especially Ziva and her sister), and the writing were all wonderful. I found the plot to be fascinating and unique, especially on account of Ziva’s intense social anxiety, which is not something I’d encountered in a book like this before. It made her so much more relatable, and I couldn’t help but cheer for her and think about all the readers who would relate on account of the conditions they may have, and the lack of representation that there usually is. I also really enjoyed the descriptions of smithing in the book, and found them to be well-researched and thoroughly interesting.
Overall, the book is absolutely wonderful, and I cannot wait for the sequel, and to find out what’s next for Ziva and her companions.
