This is the story of Ziva, a blacksmith with the ability to imbue magical powers into every weapon she makes. Unfortunately, she ends up making an all-powerful weapon for an evil warlord who intends to use it to take over the world. So Ziva and her friends have to go off on a journey to escape the warlord and her army.
What immediately stood out to me was the neurodivergent representation. Ziva has social anxiety, and her fears are a recurring theme throughout the story. I haven't ever read a fantasy with a neurodivergent character, so I really enjoyed seeing one portrayed in "The Blade of Secrets." Other than that, the story was a pretty standard fantasy/adventure/romance, with a fresh plotline that kept me interested.
The writing isn't world-shattering, but I enjoyed that I didn't have to plod through thousands of super flowery sentences. It's short, sweet, and a lovely read.
