After finishing Blade of Secrets I had to really sit and think before starting this review. As you can see I gave it four stars because it is not the authors fault but my heart really wants to award it three. The reason for this is simple. I have outgrown Young Adult. How sad. I have read the authors previous books and while I was not head over heels with them I did like them. I think I even recived one in my Owlcrate box before.
So I had very high hopes for Blade of Secrets. It checked off all the fantasy young adult box needs. But then, it happened. after a few chapters in I just was not feeling it. It happened. I've out grown it. The story moves along well and was exciting but I was bored. I very much think this is my falut and not the authors. So as far as my review goes, please give it a try if you love young adult. If you are borderline on typical fantasy young adult stories this might be a pass.
