I really wanted to like this book. I really did, but it just fell flat for me. The was not enough world building and for the first half of the book I was stuck on trying to figure out if it was a typical fantasy world without modern things, but then there would modern terminology and I would wonder if it was more of a another kind of world with similar modern things as our world has. Then nothing was happening for so many chapters. Ziva, the main character was just working in her forge, making magical weapons and worrying about her anxiety. And I get we need some backstory and build-up, but not ten chapters worth. I also found it hard to connect with Ziva because she didn't seem to what to do anything but stay locked up in her forge. I actually found her sister more relatable, but she was not the main character so... In the end, I just did not finsh this one because I just could not get into it. Others may enjoy it, but it was not for me.
