I love this cover and wanted to give Tricia levenseller another chance. I've only read one other book from her and I enjoyed her character. I can say the same for this story. I liked the characters separately and together although I didn't feel any chemistry . They should have just been friends instead of veering into romance territory. I liked the historical setting and the journey trope is one of my favorites. I thought the sister dynamics were great and the main character having social anxiety was a unique representation. I don't think I've ever read a book with that kind of rep before. It did become annoying eventually and perhaps that's because I don't have that level of anxiety but I just kept thinking, omg really it's not that difficult. I'm not a very empathetic person so even though I appreciated the rep I got frustrated with it as well This also read a little too young adult for my tastes. All in all an okay story.
