A defective sword, an effective introduction

The novel’s cover was a first, hesitant step into the story of a young ‘bladesmith’. It’s stunning! The main character has such a reverence for metal and her kraft, so much so that instead of forming relationships - she works with ironically unsympathetic steel. The writing itself is concise. And the author does an excellent job of setting her introduction tone. Once the word ‘defective’ was thrown in, I was interested in how a character so clearly described as particular in the paragraphs before had gone wrong. Unfortunately, I have never had the chance to read Tricia Levenseller, but this looks very promising indeed!
