I loved this book. In the novel we watch Buck transition to an underachieving barista At Starbucks to a fast talking Sales for a start up. In the process he betrays the values he was taught by his mother for the tactics needed to be successful in workplace where cultural and racial awareness is lacking.
We see the character lose his way and alienate family and friends but eventually he finds the path that returns him to his values and identifies a way to help other people of color be successful as he has.
I love the character development of this novel. I related to the tips provided to be successful in corporate America. Though sales focused, these apply to other career paths. The author accurately captures life for people of color in corporate America. This work of fiction offers a humorous view to a difficult topic. I hope there is a sequel.
