I just discovered this book was an option for review and it's been awhile since I've read it, but I will attempt the review anyways. As a fan of the sitcom, The Office, I had higher expectations of this book. It was labeled as a satire. However, I did not find it nearly as comical as I had anticipated.
Darren's character was likeable, yet frustrating at the same time. I did like how the book addressed racial issues within the corporate world. I felt like the book started off very strong and progressed quickly, but the second half of the book was quite a drag. I can see how this book would get mixed reviews and leave some readers with a sense of uncomfortability. Had it not been selected as a "Read With Jenna" pick, I may have not even pursued this one. Overall, I am glad I read the book, but I feel that it may have been too hyped up for me. I would consider another book by this author a go if there ever is one.
