I'm slowly but surely going through the old excerpts to try to rack up more points to get more freebie books. Life got in the way for a few months, but now I'm back at it. I was so far behind, however, that this one ended up being my BOTM pick before I got around to reading the excerpt.

I enjoyed this one - the character development was absolutely phenomenal and the book doesn't come across as a debut. While I am avidly awaiting the next book that Askaripour puts out because of these aspects, there were some issues I had with the book. The message of the book is a solid one, one that needs to be a greater part of the general conversation, however, the fantastical elements that manifested toward the end of the book caused the message to get lost somewhat in favor of slightly weird and unnecessary twists. I think the book would have been more powerful had the shenanigans of the Happy Campers not spiraled. That being said, it wasn't enough to put me off this writer by any stretch of the imagination and I cannot wait to see what else he has to say.
