This story is about a young black man named Darren (nicknamed ‘Buck’) who is a manager at Starbucks when he is presented with an opportunity to become a salesman for a startup company. After surviving “hell week” (an experience riddled with blatant racism, classism and cruelty) Buck becomes the best salesmen at the company. The start up immediately gets in hot water and Buck saves the day. I flew through the first 150 pages. The story got a little weird in the middle, the transition was abrupt and odd and didn’t have the same intrigue. I lost the feeling like I was really cheering for Buck. But then the twists and turns started happening and although I didn’t love all of it, I could not stop reading. It was bizarre and satirical and so unlike what I was expecting. The audio was excellent and brought Buck to life for me and the narration really connects the listener to Buck and his friends. Overall and a very entertaining read!!
