This was a satire about race and success. The story is about a man named Darren. He is in fact a black man taking care of his mom, dating a pretty girl names Soraya. He is content in his life working at Starbucks. He graduated high school valedictorian but is waiting to for the "right opportunity." He's actually avoiding change because he is in a comfortable, familiar place. However, an opportunity walks into his Starbucks and takes him places he never would have imagined. On a journey that sees grief, anger, racism, sadness, and many other emotions, he continues his ride on the roller coaster of working in sales.

This story was, at times, exciting and definitely had a lot to say about society. Many of the characters were interesting and likable. I enjoyed the story and the commentary. Darren, or Buck as he becomes known as, is a great character and I liked watching his progression and how he handled the many situations he was thrown in. He tried to be the good guy in the end. There definitely is a theme of race and the treatment of people of color.
