I always get thrown off when the story starts after the beginning of the book. We don't get to see too much when Darren before his first day at the start up. He used to be a shift manager at Starbucks we learn and he's now working at the start up company Sumwun. From this first look I'm glad I don't work at a start up company; these guys were intense. They also had a totally racist move at the end of the first look. I'm interested to see how Darren aka Buck does at this company. I feel like he's going to go through alot with his skin color and dealing with the fact he's the only black member of the team. The paint move really pissed me off; it's his first day though, so of course he won't say anything. I also feel like Darren's promise to Soraya is a recipe for disaster and a sign of some foreshadowing to come. He's not thinking he's going to be a big shot, but I have a bad feeling about how this is all going to turn out. But we will have to see!
