“Using kintsugi to mend it has taught me so much: that true repair requires transformation, that our potential is impossible to see until a crack opens us up.”

Behind Every Lie is a psychological thriller about a woman who wakes up in a hospital bed the prime suspect in the murder of her mother.

This novel is a story about a parent’s love for their child but it takes a bit to get there. It’s kind of a given, as Eva Hansen is under investigation for her mother’s murder, that this book is going to be about this specific bond.

I loved the FirstLook so much that I tracked BEL down as soon as it was released. However while I love the premise, there really aren’t too many surprises. Sure, there are twists and turns, but there was only one major plot point I didn’t see coming. That left a slew of revelations that were obvious. In fact, the biggest surprise to me was that the author lives in Britain, although she did seem to play up the ignorant American angle a bit much when one character travels to London.

This is a good book and I read it in one day so obviously I liked it.
