I was really looking forward to reading this book; the title intrigued me immediately. I also enjoy contemporary settings. The first few pages held my interest as I'd imagined they would. However, the further I read, the more I found myself wanting to skim the paragraphs. Eva is an interesting female, and the not-always-perfect relationship with her mother is certainly a common one for young women. Eva has a fiance who seems to have plenty of money, a beautiful home, and a bank account that made it possible for him to buy her an expensive diamond ring. Why hasn't she introduced her fiance to her mother? These aspects of the plot are interesting. At the time time, there is something about the murder scene that seems a bit contrived: Eva has been hit by lightning and can't remember if she murdered her own mother. I'm not yet sure how I feel about this book, so I would appreciate the opportunity to receive a copy of this book and adjust my rating up a star or two!
