Beautiful Bad is about the relationship of Ian and Maddie. It tells the story of how they met, married, through The Day of the Killing.
Annie Ward is a wonderful story teller. The way she describes the characters, I felt like I knew them pretty well. However, I have to say that I did not like Maddie or Ian at all. Ian was a jerk and the type of guy that I would run from as fast as I could. And Maddie was lacking confidence and self-esteem. It does make sense that these types of people would end up together.
The book had a pretty slow build. I even forgot that the very beginning of the book started with The Day of the Killing and I was supposed to be wondering who was killed and how it happened. The twists were too predictable for me.
I think I am a little tired of the unreliable narrator trope. This book would probably be good for someone new to the genre.
